RED FILM EXAMPLES

REEL ROCK: RIDERS ON THE STORM

27 minutes

'Riders on the Storm' is considered a crown jewel of big wall climbing in Patagonia: a 1,300m line with 41 pitches, attempted by countless teams over the last 33 years with no success. Enter three Belgian big wall climbers who endure 18 days of howling snowstorms, frozen feet and gnarly runouts in their bid to make a long-coveted alpine first ascent of the elusive route.

THE FINISHER: JASMIN PARIS & THE BARKLEY MARATHONS

45 minutes

The extraordinary story of British runner Jasmin Paris and her ground-breaking attempt of the Barkley Marathons, a race known for its extreme difficulty, cryptic rules and unpredictable conditions. Only a handful of runners have ever completed the course, and never any women. The Finisher chronicles Jasmin’s three-year journey of preparation, and brutal scenes from the race itself, in this monumental challenge.

EMIL & KARL: LITTLE WHEELS, BIG MOUNTAINS

23 minutes

Two adventurous dads set out on a six-day mountain bike tour through the Swiss Alps, with their two-and-a-half-year-old sons as co-pilots. With challenges including brutally steep climbs and a search for croissants in the Swiss backcountry, the journey is a lesson in spontaneity, optimism and navigating toddler needs in extreme conditions. An authentic and heart-warming insight into what’s possible when you shift your expectations.

BLUE FILM EXAMPLES

A BAFFIN VACATION: LOVE ON ICE

26 minutes

Adventurers Erik and Sarah set off on a 69-day kite-skiing expedition along the remote coast of Baffin Island, deep in the Arctic Circle. From big wall climbing and glacier crossings to white-water kayaking in untouched rivers, this is a story of love, endurance and discovery in one of the planet’s most formidable environments.

KAI JONES: FALLING INTO PLACE

44 minutes

Kai Jones was a teenage ski sensation. He turned professional aged 12, and swiftly rose to the top of freeskiing with viral videos that earned him four consecutive Skier of the Year nominations. But in 2023, Kai suffered a near-fatal injury in the Wyoming backcountry. Falling into Place offers an unfiltered look into Kai’s journey as he re-examines his dreams and goals, and forges a new path for his future.

MANDALA

6 minutes

A spellbinding mountain bike journey through Nepal, from the bustling streets of Kathmandu to the dizzying ridgelines and timeless villages of the remote Dolpo region. Starring legendary French mountain biker Kilian Bron, Mandala blends adventure, reflection and human connection, capturing the essence of exploration in one of the world’s most secluded valleys.

THE HIVE ARCHITECT

12 minutes

There is a widely held theory that the British honey bee couldn’t exist without being domesticated by beekeepers. But for conservationists like Matt Somerville, that theory is ludicrous. Matt spends his winters creating log hives, before driving around all of England in the summer, putting them up as non-intervention habitats for wild bees. A heart-warming short film about a woodworker and his passion for free living bees.

28th - 31st January 2026
Malvern Coach House Theatre
Season's Greetings

As our own Christmas celebrations fade from memory, The Swan Theatre Amateur Company (STAC) brings Alan Ayckbourn’s festive comedy Season’s Greetings to The Coach House Theatre, Malvern 28th – 31st January at 7.30pm, with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.

We join Neville and Belinda, their family and friends at their four-day Christmas gathering. A house full of guests and excited children (heard but not seen) brings a mix of fun and mayhem with Ayckbourn’s usual dark twist.

Their traditions are a source of constant squabbles and relationships are tested when the arrival of Clive, a young writer, takes the turmoil to a whole new level. Will the annual puppet show be a hit with the kids as Bernard expects, or a complete flop as Harvey predicts? As tensions mount, will Christmas ever be the same again for Neville and Belinda? This comedy will make you think twice when compiling your next Christmas invitation list.

Tickets are £16.00 bookable through Malvern Theatres box office online, in person or by phone on 01684 892277, or at The Coach House Theatre 30 minutes before each performance subject to availability.
