Lord of the Flies

In the midst of war, a plane evacuating a group of schoolboys from Britain is shot down over a deserted tropical island.
With no adult survivors, the boys, ranging in age from six to twelve, are left to fend for and govern themselves.

At first it feels like a game. A conch shell is found, and bestowed the symbolism of a ‘talking stick’. A leader is elected in Ralph, who assigns duties to ensure the group’s survival. A hunting party is formed, with Jack at its head. But soon Jack is jealous of Ralph’s power, and begins to cause divisions amongst the boys, prioritising bloodthirsty pig-hunting over Ralph’s more practical shelter building.

The situation escalates when a strange flying shape is mistaken for a beast, and the boys begin to be afraid. Innocent parties like the philosophical Simon or the hapless Piggy will be caught in the crossfire as Jack and his followers grow increasingly savage in their actions. More than just pig’s blood will be spilled before long.

'Allo 'Allo!

From the team that brought you the sell-out The Vicar of Dibley and co-producers of Ludlow Pantomime

. . .  “Listen very carefully – we shall say this only once!”

Step into René Artois’ café in Nazi-occupied France, where nothing is quite as it seems and absolutely everything goes wrong. ’Allo ’Allo! is a riotous wartime farce packed with outrageous misunderstandings, secret identities, and some very badly concealed secrets.

René is a reluctant hero, juggling the demands of the Resistance, hiding two British airmen, dodging the Gestapo, and keeping track of a stolen painting that keeps turning up in the most unlikely places. All this while attempting to survive his wife Edith’s singing — and her suspicions. Add in pompous German officers, scheming spies, disguises galore, and Officer Crabtree’s legendary mangling of the French language, and the result is nonstop comic mayhem.

Bursting with beloved characters, iconic catchphrases, and laugh-out-loud chaos, ’Allo ’Allo! is a fast-paced, feel-good comedy that promises an evening of sheer escapist fun.

Don’t miss Ludwig Theatre Arts’ side-splitting production at Ludlow Assembly Rooms — you will laugh until you surrender!
